On 6th April 2014, the annual Have a Ball Foundation’s – How Far Can You Run – fun run was held again. The run / walk is a fundraising event whereby a select group of 30 runners & walkers participated in pushing the boundaries of their bodies and to challenge their human spirit to see how far they can run or walk in a day.
The fun run started at Port Melbourne Yacht Club and headed south along the beach running track to the turnaround point at Mordialloc Pier as far as the contestants can go in the day. The purpose of the event is to raise some well needed money for underpiveledged indigenous kids in remote parts of Australia to which all proceeds will help fund a variety of projects to assist with their education, health and wellbeing.

We were lucky to get a perfect day with the weather & it was another year of people achieving amazing results by testing their physical, and in particular, their mental toughness to cover the some of the distances reached.

Most of the kids running on the day put in a fantastic effort and made it to Black Rock doing 18-20kms. Well done to Jazzy, Ashley, Hailey & Maddy to get to that point as well as the adults. There were quite a few runners who made it to the turnaround point at Mordialloc pier to reach 28.5 kms. Well done to Rachael, Terry, Chris, Ferda, Nicole, Christos & Helen. Great effort!
Jodie & Carla continued back and put in a big effort to make it to the 40km mark. Anna led the pack and powered on to do a huge 50kms which was an amazing effort and will be a great warm up training run for her Oxfam in a few weeks. But it was last year’s champ Garry who ran on til 5pm to reach a huge 58kms beating his last years effort of 56kms.

Amazing results for all who participated & everyone should be really proud of their efforts.

A special thanks to the support crew – Sophie & Sean who were such a great help on the day & we couldn’t have run the event without you!

Thank you all who were involved for supporting the event.
